Camp Veritas is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of New York and organized exclusively for the purpose of inspiring and forming young Catholic Leaders.
Camp Veritas has been approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for listing in the Official Catholic Directory, which is also known as the Kenedy Directory. Camp Veritas is recognized by the IRS as a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. This classification allows donors to claim their contributions as tax-deductible.
Facilities:
Camp Veritas has reserved for one week the facilities of Camp Lakota, an existing camp located in the foothills of the scenic Catskill Mountains. This camp is located near Middletown New York, just 90 miles North of New York City, and 55 miles West of Poughkeepsie.
The camp is situated on 200 beautiful acres of land in Wurtsboro, New York, with access to the magnificent spring-fed Masten Lake which facilitates an array of water activities such as boating and beach volleyball.
The camp boasts of two heated swimming pools, eight tennis courts, eight basketball courts, three softball fields, a soccer field, a roller hockey rink, go-carts, a climbing wall, and hiking paths.
Spiritual Program:
The structured spiritual program will be led by the renowned Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, headquartered in the Bronx, founded by the well-known Father Benedict Groeschel, and currently led by Father Bernard Murphy.
The spiritual activities will include daily Mass, spiritual instruction and discussion, energetic music for praise and worship, spiritual counseling, confessions, and silent adoration of the Eucharist.
Odds and Ends:
The camp serves food cafeteria style.There is a salad bar with freshly picked fruits and vegetables, and the “lighter side” with soups, pasta, and wraps, and a full menu of hot entrees.Also, special requirements can be accommodated.
There are separate sleeping facilities for males and females. Also, campers will be grouped by age. There will be an adult chaperone for every 10 youth campers.The adult chaperones will be subject to a background check to ensure the personal safety of the youth.
